THE JOURNEY
In 1994 he was called to serve as Pastor of the Resurrection Community Baptist Church where he served until God gave him the vision for Faithway Fellowship Baptist Church. The church was organized on August 27, 2002 and the first service was held on September 1, 2002 at the Ramada Plaza Hotel (Downtown Dallas) with 23 charter members.
Bishop Bowman possesses the gifts of faithfulness, humility, encouragement, and meekness. These gifts proved to be necessary to fulfill his calling to preach and teach God’s Word. He is truly an agent of God and a messenger of God’s revelation. Through his years as a pastor, he has proved to be skilled and capable to lead the people of God. As the Pastor of Faithway, his continued efforts are Evangelizing and building up the Kingdom of God, and to be a servant to God’s people.
He attended Southern Bible Institute School of Theology in Dallas, Texas and in 1992 he graduated from Criswell College in Dallas, Texas. On March 17, 2013 he was consecrated Bishop in the Covering Another Brother Ministries.

THE CHURCH AND COMMUNITY
Bishop Bowman was elected President of the Dallas Chapter of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference in December 2007, where he works to bring church and community together, in an effort to bring harmony and equality to all of God’s people.
With a deep passion for our youth, Bishop Bowman has worked with GenTx|ROOTS College Go Center to help prepare them for college, instill biblical principles that will empower them to have a better future. The first center in Texas opened at Faithway Fellowship Baptist Church in February 2011.
He has also served as a Mentor for Hamilton Park Magnet Schools, and Dallas Branch of Boy Scouts of America. Since there were many Hispanic families in the community, he partnered with the schools in the community to use facilities at Faithway to launch program to offer English as a Second Language (ESL) classes.

Bishop Derrick L. Bowman, Sr. is a native of Dallas, Texas and currently serves as the founder and senior pastor of Faithway Fellowship Baptist Church of Dallas, Texas.
THE CALL
Bishop Bowman started his Christian journey when he accepted Christ at an early age and surrendered to the call of preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ at the age of eighteen. In 1979 he accepted his call to ministry at the Peoples Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Dr. S. M. Wright, Sr. With much prayer and guidance, he later moved his membership to First Baptist Church of Hamilton Park in Dallas, Texas under the leadership of the late Dr. Rev. J. Lee Foster.
THE RESPONSE
During his many years of service at First Baptist Church of Hamilton Park, Bishop Bowman’s ministry began to grow in the direction that God had ordained for him. During this time, he served as the Youth Pastor, ministering to the needs of young people and their families.
