Jermaine L. Simms, Senior Pastor
Pastor Jermaine L. Simms is an anointed, appointed, dynamic deliverer of the word of God. Pastor Simms is the older of two children. He was born in the 1970’s to his esteemed mother, Debarah Simms and was reared in the Dallas Metropolis by his respected grandmother, the late Ruby Faye White who he often pays alms to, remembering the effective parenting skills of a Christian woman. He has one sister who he cherishes and holds dear to his heart, Ms. Kimberly Simms.
He attended South Oak cliff High School and received his diploma in 1990. With an infectious sense of humor, he often refers to his alma mater as “S.O.C.” - School of Christians.
During the course of his life he has faced and overcome many challenges, and can truly say the Lord has kept him and covered him. Pastor Simms accepted the Lord as his Savior at the age of eighteen and received his calling at the age of twenty-four years old. For well over fifteen years, Pastor Simms has been dedicated to serving the people of God, and advancing the Kingdom work.
Pastor Simms Church of God In Christ (C.O.G.I.C.) upbringing contributes to the fact that he is a well-diverse preacher and teacher. He believes that we are not defined by denomination, race, or age. His vision is for the body of Christ to grow collectively, in unity for the cause of Christ’s mission. He often states, "Our church should be a place where you can experience the life changing power and presence of God."
He contributes all of his knowledge, revelations, and zeal of the Word to the Lord and he acknowledges the influence and encouragement to stay steadfast in the Word to his spiritual father; The Late Bishop Frank Smith who was extremely instrumental in his life.
Pastor Simms initially became the interim pastor of the Greater Ideal Missionary Baptist Church in November of 2011 and was called as Pastor in late 2012.
Pastor Simms has the heart of God which manifests in his life, and he instills it in his God given flock. Pastor Simms love of God, the people of God, and the lost, has led him to embark on a visionary plan for the Greater Ideal Missionary Baptist Church which includes but is not limited to; Worship in The Word on Tuesday nights, Young Men’s Fellowship Group, Children’s Church, and a Trinity Offering, just to name a few.
Pastor Simms accomplishments include a Slidell College Associates degree in Theology (Louisiana) and he is now working toward a bachelor’s degree. He also devotes time to an inner city youth group, empowering them with life skills through I have A Dream Foundation.
Pastor Simms has two children; his wonderful son, Bryson and his adorable daughter, Jayla who he considers both to be the apples of his eyes.
Pastor Simms ministers the word of God with such power, authority, and conviction in hopes that it will change the lives of all who hears him.
His vision is uncompromisingly clear, with one central principle; to build and develop a kingdom of empowered people for God and to see souls saved. Holding firmly to the commissioned mandate in Matthew 28:18-20, “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations”.
